QuestionMy question deals with reduced metabolism and weight gain when one reaches middle age and beyond.
I am a woman 68 years old and in excellent health. The last few years it has been increasingly difficult to hold the line on weight gain, let alone lose a few pounds.
I am active and do limbering exercises each morning plus other short exercises a few times a day (such as jumping jacks and running up two flights of stairs.)
While I know there are numerous ways to lose weight, I would appreciate advice on how increase my metabolism in order to do this.
Thank you.
AnswerHi,
Generally you need to increase your metabolism thru having 5-6 small meals a day and perform light to moderate aerobics 4-5 times a week. Do low impact aerobics like swimming, elliptical stepper machine or gentle cycling.
I would not recommend jumping jacks and running up two flights of stairs as they are both high impact. Also CORE exercises are very good as well. If you belong to a gym, you can get a trainer to show you core exercises.
I am 47 and do a lot of CORE and swimming, elliptical stepper machine.
Have a look at this website as people have put a lot of info in there.
