Weight gain- why do I not see it?

Question

I am a 17 year old girl and I am 5"1 1/2. I used to weigh about 95 pounds. But four or five months ago, I apparently gained some weight.

I have been about 100 pounds for awhile now, according to the scales (at the hospital), but I don't physically look any different than I used to. Also, I haven't been eating any differently than I used to. I don't understand. Why is this?

Answer
Hi Lucy,
I sent you an answer yesterday, but apparently it did not send! Sorry, then for the delay.

You don't say why you are weighed in the hospital so I don't know all that is going on with you.
However, a five pound weight gain is not something you would see... it's not enough to notice even on your frame, and especially since weight gain happens gradually.

It may be that your physical activity level changed, your diet did change but barely noticably, the scale is off a bit, it's water weight, or you grew another 1/4 of an inch!

As long as you haven't noticed the 5 pound weight gain, you are well within normal weight range, and you are healthy, there is no reason for concern.
