QuestionHi
I am a 50 year old woman who smoked for most of 35 years. I stopped smoking a year ago and have gained around 16lbs. I am 5ft 5ins and weight 140lbs. I excercise daily for around 30 mins - arobic and hand weights. I watch my diet and eat sensibly - never more than 1400 calories per day - yes I dont lose any weight at all. I only want tolose 14lbs and weight what i did before i stopped smoking. any advise?
AnswerFirst of all, congratulations on quitting smoking. It's not easy, but I'd rather be 15 pounds heavier and have HEALTHY LUNGS than the alternative.
If what you're doing right now isn't working, then mix it up. How about MORE strength training (some heavier weights) and switch your cardio up. Instead of a 30 minute jog every day, how about 15 minutes of ass-kicking interval sprints 3 times a week?
You said you eat 1400 calories a day?but of what? Make sure you're eating the right kinds of food. See my web site for more details.
