QuestionOk, so I'm not fat yet. If I had to rate my physical health, I'd give me a 7.5. But I am a chef in a Cajun/New Orleans Restaurant. I spend all day tasting and sampling rich food. Thick butter sauces, Fatty cuts of pork, Greasy Sausage, and don抰 get me started on the deserts. I work out regularly, lift weights, and get my heart up for between 30 and 60 min a day. I know I could do more but I don抰 want to look like Teddy Atlas. I just need to drop some surface fat. My heart is in good shape. I get regular checkups and when kids fresh out of culinary school are wheezing and winding down, I haven抰 even broken a sweat. I don抰 eat anymore. All the food I get during the day is from work. A nibble here and a sip there. I tried to keep track one day and I estimate that I get about 1800 calories a day like this. I抦 a pretty big guy with a slow metabolism so this is working for me ok. If I try to build some more muscle would I loose fat? I wish I could change my eating habits but my work forbids. Any advice for my circumstance? I just don抰 know what I can do.
AnswerHI Peet,
Drove through Louisiana to Nah Lhans once, no bad cooks, even the grits at the truck stop were outstanding. Could eat yourself to death New Orleans style. Shiny food, greasy sausage, yum.
Gross, but what do wine tasters do? Spit it out. Get a spittoon.
It is possible to lower your metabolism by not eating enough. You can't overeat fresh raw non-starchy produce, so have a handful of spinach and a carrot, an apple and so forth.
