Salmon with or without skin - different nutritional values

Question
I would appreciate it if you could settle a debate my wife and I have frequently - should the skin of wild and/or farm salmon be removed prior to eating the fish? If not, what benefits accrue in including it in the diet?
Thanks

Answer
Hi Gary,

There indeed is a difference in nutrition facts between these two ways to eat fish. If you take a look at nutrition tables at "Salmon nutrition facts: with skin or skinless": http://atkinszone.com/recipes/2010/03/blog-post.html -- you'll notice that skin adds to a 7 oz piece of salmon extra calories and protein, while having less saturated fat so that fats in the skin are mostly "good" mono- and polyunsaturated fats.
