QuestionHello,
I have lost a few stone through counting calories over the past few years and have kept it all off for the past 6 months, however I can't seem to reach goal and i keep going up and down by the same half a stone - it's really depressing and quite frankly boring.
I've done loads of research looking at Intuitive eating, Beyond Chocolate etc and am really excited to trying, it seems like the obvious answer, however, I'm scared that
after a number of years on a reduced calorie diet, won't eating intuitively just make me put the weight back on? This is something I feel I can't risk, for health reasons and because of my job!
any thoughts, much appreciated...
Katy
AnswerHi Katy
I can so relate to losing weight and going up and down on diets. For me personally, intuitive eating has been THE miracle that finally stopped my yo-yo'ing. However, I have to say that I initially did gain weight (about 5%) before I started losing weight slowly - and I do mean slowly. I do think there are some other components to intuitive eating though that made a difference for me which I write about in The Mind over Fatter programme.
I've also written about intuitive eating at http://www.ditch-diets-live-light.com/intuitive-eating.html and I absolutely think it has to go along with 'happy eating' http://www.ditch-diets-live-light.com/happy-eating.html The big trick with succeeding at intuitive eating is that you have to find a way to make eating carrot cake as psychologically legal as eating carrots. When you do that, then intuitive eating really becomes effortless. I've been eating this way for about 10 years now and my weight has remained stable. Good luck. Cari
