potatoes?

Question
Phil
There seems to be consensus that eating a low carb diet, or at least eating complex carbs instead of simple carbs will lead to weight loss.
I can understand cutting out sugar, white breads, pastries, etc, but why are healthy natural vegetables like potatoes, watermelons, and pumkins considerd high carb?
Is eating a couple small baked potatoes a week going to make me fat?

Answer
Bud-

a potato is not evil but it is in fat just the same as eating a bowl of sugar. Its pretty much 100% simple starch which in your body is just the same as sugar. its a very simple carb source. Same thing with most breads. White bread all though it has nearly zero sugar spikes insulin worse then table sugar does. A potato is the same is pure carbs little to no fiber or any other nutritional content.

Now again they are not evil I currently eat plenty of them, but then again I am looking to put more weight on and fuel my push to get an 800lb deadlift so I burn that fuel. eating them fits my goals. If I was looking to get lean or have a client do so cutting potatoes and other simple empty carb sources would be the first thing we addressed
