QuestionHi
A month ago I switched my usual three times a week 45 minute 'jogs' to daily treadmill HIIT sessions.
After two weeks I noticed that
1. I was FINALLY losing a bit of fat
2. I felt better physically and emptionally-younger
3. My wife and friend said I looked a bit taller?
I discoverd that HIIT training releases human growth hormone. Is it possible that at 53 years old I am getting a HGH boost?
Also, my doctor says my big hard belly is dangerous visceral fat.
I have tried low calorie, low fat, low carb, but cant shrink the belly at all. Any thoughts on that?
Thanks!
AnswerHi,
Yes the high intensity interval training will Due to its intensity, HIIT recruits fast-twitch muscle fibers which help to burn more fat cells. The looking taller is an optical illusion as you have become slimmer.
If your doc thinks you have fat in your stomach area I would get a body fat percent test done at your gym to check what it is. For a male it should be between 10 and 20 %.
As far as HGH goes, when you sprint and do other anaerobic exercises your body heats up and releases lactic acid. This in-turn promotes the natural release of HGH in your body. So HIIT workouts can do this as well.
Thanks.
