QuestionBelow is an answer to a question that you answered for someone trying to loose 10 lbs. My question is if your already eating less then the calories allotted do I need to eat more or 500 calories less then what I'm already eating. Doing the calculations I can eat 2,004 calories and then I need to eat or work out 500 less which would be 1500. That's what I have been eating for a while and have not see a big weight loss. I work out 4-5 times a week doing a 1 hour boot camp. What should I do? Thanks.
Old question answer:Answer
Calorie deficit to lose 10 lbs?
Let's do a daily calorie count to lose 1 pounds a week
To calculate your daily calorie needs, take your weight in pounds and multiply by:
鈥?physically active male - by 15
鈥?physically active female - by 12
鈥?physically inactive male - by 13
鈥?physically inactive female - by 10
AnswerDear Stephanie,
There are two questions really. First is about calorie calculations, which is a very vague business when it comes in the calories in- calories out balance estimation (read why in the "reading" below).
Somewhat out of this part follows the second aspect. Calories coming from carbohydrates and the same amount of calories coming from fat does not result in the same long term changes in body mass. Again, read why it's happening in the reading.
Generally speaking, if most of your calories come from carb and/or protein, cut down on them and increase your intake of fats (better "good" fats like in avocados, olive and tree nut oils, fatty cold water fish, seeds, nuts, etc.
