The best method for reducing weight is to reduce (or eliminate) foods in the diet that provide lots of calories without much nutrition. Examples of these are soda and other sugary beverages, concentrated sweets like candy and cookies and cakes, and fried foods that can be eaten baked or broiled instead.
Exercise is very good for preventing weight gain and maintaining weight loss, but you won't see the weight fall off very quickly from exercise unless you're able to be active for 2 hours each day.
Any type of activity that gets you breathing faster will help--bike riding, fast walking, playing softball or frisbee or other games that have you running around.
