Question
Hi Laurie,

Thank you so very much for your answer to the Egg White question.  I would
like to know what 100 grams equals. Does 100 (hundred) grams equal a
teaspoon; a tablespoon; or what?

Sincerely,
Angel

Answer
Hi Angel,

100 grams is about 3.5 ounces. Its a standard portion for a lot of nutrient composition information, but it's rarely a portion size that people actually eat...especially with things like sugar or parsley or ketchup! So you'll have to check carefully when you look for nutrition information to calculate what you're actually eating.

A teaspoon is about 5 grams when you're measuring most foods (sugar, salt, butter, etc). So you wouldn't expect anyone to consume 100 grams of sugar or butter at a sitting!

A 100 gram portion may be a realistic serving for a piece of chicken or a small bowl of berries.
