QuestionHi Phil,
My name is Igor and I am a personal trainer. I was wondering what supplements can help with insulin management (insulin resistance).
I've heard that the following were good:
- fish oil
- krill oil
- multi-vitamin (not a direct effect, but helps with toxicity)
- magnesium glycinate
- vitamin E
- vitamin D
- Fiber
I understand that of course diet and exercise go a long way, but I'd just like to know what you think of those supplements.
Would you add any other supplements to that list?
Would you remove any supplements from that list?
What are some contraindications?
Thank you!
Igor.
AnswerIgor-
I honestly think your list is pretty good and it will help and just the realization that a diet based in real whole foods, protein and fat first and nice healthy cards mainly from green veggies and some fruit along with Hard training will be the biggest factor.
the supps I have all my cleints use no matter the goal and for mainly health is a very very short list.
Fish Oils 1-20 grams a day
creatine monohydrate
a mutli
thats the basdeline
and more and more now magnesium, Vit D, and potassium.
we can take care of any insulin resistance problem with mainly diet tweaks even a few weeks to am month low carb based mainly in fats and protein can go a LONG way to aiding that problem when coupled with hard training
