QuestionQUESTION: Hi, I am worried about my health a little, it is probably nothing but I just would like some advice. I'm not underweight (170cm, 61kgs & female) but I do follow a strict diet and aim to not eat more than 500 calories a day, and the calories I eat have to be good calories (as in fruit and veg). A few weeks ago I started taking laxatives as I couldnt go to the bathroom, and I have kept taking 2 or 3 every night. The last few days I havn't been feeling well and sometimes I can't keep food down. Tonight I ate some soup and I felt really unwell and had to throw it up. I used to make myself vomit but I never do anymore (except from tonight where I had to as I felt so unwell). I am also under alot of stress at the moment and have experienced panic attacks before, maybe that is causing my stomach upset too? Please can you reply. Thank you.
ANSWER: To start, thanks for giving me the opportunity to help and answer your questions. This is going to need to be an open dialogue as there are some variables that may need to be uncovered to get to the exact cause of your conditions. Either way, I am going to do my best to create an answer that will encompass everything I know thus far.
You are not in terrible health from an outside view of your stats, though you could lose a little weight. You are saying that you're eating only a 500 calorie per day diet and that is very dangerous if you are doing that alone. You need nearly triple that to allow your body the nutrients it needs. If you are doing it to lose weight, you are actually creating more harm than weight loss. When you go on a low calorie diet alone it causes chaos in your body. Your immune system breaks down, your lymphatic system breaks down, your digestive system gets out of balance, your nutrients get depleted and you body holds onto fat to survive. It is the complete opposite of what you should do if you want to be healthy. it is no wonder you are having stomach pains.
If you would like to get truly healthy, eat a whole foods diet high in vegetables and if you choose to eat meat, stick to lean meats only. Eat fruits only on an empty stomach and stay away from starches. Drink 2-4 liters of water per day and your bodily systems will get back in balance everything will come together for you. You will be able to release fat and get truly healthy.
I hope that helps some and if need any further clarification, please let me know.

QUESTION: I already drink at least 4 liters of water per day, I only ever eat fruit and vegatables as I dislike meat and most carbohydrates. I hate fast food, cheese, eggs, and most dairy products also.
I have done a diet similar to the one I am on now in the past and never got sick like this. I am not sure why I would throw up randomly, which is my main concern.
As you wrote that I could lose a little weight, how much do you suggest? My BMI is 21.5, which I thought was a normal weight range? I defiantly wont be increasing my calorific intake now.
AnswerLouise, I explained to you that this is an open dialogue and you could get clarification anytime you needed it, but to give me a poor rating because you don't agree is not very fair. You asked for my opinion on this, so I gave what I know from the information you gave, then you follow up with more that would have been valuable to know in the first place, but my opinion still stands. I can only answer based off of the information that I have in front of me and I really don't agree with your rating.
However...
As I wrote previously, I can only tell what your weight is with your height based on what you give. You are obviously concerned about your weight, however, I can't see you. I have no way of knowing exactly what you need...height and weight doesn't tell the whole story; how much muscle mass do you have? How much fat mass? How much inner cellular and outer cellular water are you carrying?
I know this for a fact, you are sick because you eat a diet with so little calories. If you continue to do so, you will continue to be sick, PERIOD. As you are starving your body by eating only 500 calories, you are creating acid in your body. Your immune system is out of balance, your digestive system and lymphatic system is out of balance. Those things cannot be compromised. Hands down if you keep eating a 500 calorie diet you will continue to be sick. Increase your calories and you will not only feel better, but your body will get back in balance and you will lose body fat. Do not be stubborn and stick to 500 calories, it is not healthy if you're doing that alone.
Just another thought also, you may have an infestation of yeast and bacteria in your body and blood. In fact with how little you are eating and the stresses that your body is going through, that is the perfect environment for yeast to proliferate. When that happens, they will continue to eat your glucose, expel their waste (which is acidic) and repeat the cycle. This will also keep you sick.
You absolutely must increase your calories or you will remain sick.
