Questionhello. I've started jogging recently an decided to buy a heart rate monitor to help me keep me in my heart rate zone (I'm 6'3 257 lbs 20 yr) and to help me keep track of calories burned. I strap on the monitor to my chest and press start on the watch as soon as I start. I am able to jog 20 minutes straight without stopping at a 4.5 mile hou rate. then I take a break (pause heart rate monitor) for 5-10 min. then I jog another 15 minutes. when it's all said and done I end up working out for 45 min. my question is... the heart monitor says I burn 1500 calories in 45 min. is this accurate?
I'm a little skeptical so I decide to subtract 20% of that. so 1200-1300? is this a smart idea?
it's a sportsline duo II 1025"
AnswerWhen I look at what you wrote me I am seeing that your heart rate monitor is not correctly reading calories. Normally for this type of exercise you would be burning aprox.500 - 600 calories. I would call the company an explain what is going on and get a new one.
