QuestionHi, im 19, male. Im working on getting abs, I have about 3-5 pounds standing between ripped abs and well not. So im alittle confused about caloric intake in relation to exercise. Ive read that I shouldnt go below 1500 calories per day. Which is fine and all but is that before or after exercise, if I ate 1500 calories and then exercised, that would put me under 1500 calories, is that ok? or do I need to eat more calories so that after I calculate for my calorie burn of my exercise, it equals 1500?
AnswerHi Josh,
1500 calories is a good guideline, although the actual number of calories required is specific to the person. So, if you consume 1500 calories and feel light headed or not well, you may want to consider increasing intake slightly.
The 1500 calories, is calories consumed not net calories. So, to answer your question, you want to eat 1500 calorie per day regardless of exercise.
You may want to consider a low carb diet temporarily, body builders have been using this diet for years to become "shredded" before shows.
Thanks,
Dan
