QuestionI have always struggled with my weight as I gain weight very easily. I have managed to keep it stable for some time now (BMI 25-26)however I am finding that with the winter months coming on, I have noticed that I am putting on weight, despite stepping up my exercise to 5 days a week. I had been following a ketogenic diet on and off for 18months, however, I found that it has not been working in the last couple of months, and I am currently following a calorie controlled diet (1200 calories a day).
Is there anything you could recommend that I do to prevent the weight gain? I feel like I am fighting a losing battle and just need some direction.
Many thanks
AnswerI have found that a vegetarian diet during the winter months works best for controlling the battle of the bulge. When you are losing weight you will see that your body will plateau causing you to adjust your diet to what your body is lacking at that specific time. Your body may be missing fat because you have eliminated it from your diet, at that time adding fat will cause your body to get back on track and start to lose weight again. The best way to lose weight is to find out exactly what your body needs in regards to your daily fat, fiber, protein, and carbohydrate intake and ingest the calories required to meet these daily needs. After you have met these needs calculate in the additional calories needed to fulfill any activity you are engaged in. This is the basic premiss behind all diet plans, except for one's that eliminate specific things such as carbs or fat. Eliminating anything required from your diet causes a short fall that will catch up with you and could make you sick later. Proper nutrition is the key to any diet.
Good Luck
