QuestionHi Laurie,
I'm 16 years old and I'm quite petite and I usually sit around 105 pounds, but I'm 5'3. I just wanted to let you know that I'm not anorexic in the slightest or anything, I eat a very good diet of fruit every morning followed by something substantial for breakfast, I take vitamins eat plenty of vegetables, meat, dairy and grain.
I was just wondering if you could give me any pointers on food that would help me gain weight as I'm starting a muscle-building workout routine because although I'm thin, that doesn't mean I'm fit. So if you could suggest foods to eat that would be ideal while I'm exercising and burning calories and foods that will help me build muscles and gain weight I'd really appreciate it.
Thank you ! (:
AnswerHi hayley,
Good for you, eating a balanced diet and exercising ;)
In order to gain weight you simply need to add more calories from more healthy food. Maybe you can add an extra glass of milk, an extra ounce of meat per serving, and an extra snack like cheese and crackers or peanut butter on a banana. If it seems like you get full too easily, consider a drink like Carnation Instant Breakfast for a balance of protein, carbs, and fat.
Good luck!
Laurie
