QuestionScott
I am 55. I have struggled with abdominal obesity all my life, as well as suffering from I.B.S.
I felt better when I was young and poor and had one big meal a day. Things got worse with the traditional 3 meals a day routine.
I have gone back to one main meal a day at supper, with a shake for breakfast and lunch and I feel a lot better, although I am a bit more hungry.
In my case, the indigestion/bloating starts with the first meal of the day, even if it is something healthy like whole wheat toast or cereal. It build up with lunch, and after super it so bad I need to ly down.
However, with one big meal at supper, the symptoms only start then, and are the same no matter how much I eat.
Not only is my digestion better, but I can lose weight faster too.
Of course this goes against common knowledge such as 'eat six small meals a day to keep your metabolism up' and 'dont overload your digestive system'.
Thanks for your thoughts.
AnswerSounds like you have some major digestive issues. It's not really my area of expertise so I would prefer not to guess blindly. Have you talked to a doctor or someone who knows more about digestive issues?
Is it possible that those contribute to your weight gain? Possibly, as they can cause leaky gut syndrome and leads to increased systemic inflammation. This can mess up insulin sensitivity and possibly other hormones that are linked to weight gain.
My suggestion is to consult someone about your digestive issues. Once those are fixed it should be easier to drop some weight. Not to mention that you would feel a lot better.
