QuestionHey, I am a 16 year old girl, my height is 5 feet and my weight is 54 kg...according to my height and weight I am nearly on the borderline to become an overweight...whenever I try anything..I do lose weight but not inches...I have a LOT of body fat on my biceps, tummy, waist, thighs and to my embarrassment on my buttocks...:(
and because of that I can't wear the types of clothes I want to...
The following are the measurements of parts of my body -
Biceps - 28cm
tummy - 80cm
Waist - 86cm
buttocks - 97cm
when sitting down the measurement of my thighs measured
thighs - 51cm
So I think I have large proportion of excess fat in my body...
Most importantly I live in India and I am a vegetarian.
I don't eat junk food often.
I want to know whether I can increase my height now that I am 16...?? and if you can please help me set a diet program and tell me the exercises I should do daily...I want to lose at least 7 kg and also want to lose few inches...
And please tell me how much time will it take to lose weight...??
And how much height I can increase now...??
I am really very sorry for such a long question...and thanks for understanding... :)
AnswerEmily, Most girls stop growing after age 16 or 17; you could add another 1/2 inch, but any more than that would be a rare occurrence.
Giving you an entire diet program is beyond the scope of an e-mail, so I will just give you some suggestions. To lose weight (7 kg) will take about two months. I suggest you watch your carbohydrate intake. When overeaten, foods that contain carbohydrates are easily stored as fat in the body; protein foods are not. You have to measure the portions of rice, pasta, bread, fruit juice, and any other food that contains carbohydrates. The body stores fat evenly, so you cannot spot reduce, but you can build muscle in problem areas. Building muscle will tone the area making it appear thinner. To build muscle, lift light weights three times per week. You can look up weight lifting online to find some exercises. To lose weight overall, walk daily for at least 30 minutes. Your total calorie intake should not exceed 1500 calories per day and it should include foods from all food groups. So look up the calories content of every food you eat and drink and keep a running total. Staying at 1500 per day should get you to your goal weight in a few months. Hope that helps, Laura K.
