QuestionWhy is it that most doctors (specifically in the U.S.) do not really recommend vitamins as part of your diet? Are they not helpful? Is it placebo? Do they assume that you are taking in all of the necessary vitamins with your meal? Many doctors do not really care what type of vitamins you buy.
Are the 'herb a life' products any good? Is having a stomach cleansing beneficial? I have asked my gastroenterologists, if that would be any good and it seemed like he did not really suggest those type of natural products.
I am looking into buying vitamins or natural products that promote energy. I was looking into Alkaline products or the Alkaline diet. Will this do any good? I am not really lacking energy, but I want to be at my very best.
AnswerWell in this country the court is still out on the way we treat vitamins and herbs. Most of the research done on herbs and vitamins are conducted by drug companies that are looking to disprove their usefulness. As for the regulations on how vitamins are made, packaged and the components that are used in them there are really no regulations and they are not governed the same way as regular food.Because of the lack of legitimate studies that are being done and the lack of government control and regulation to provide consistency and safety, doctors most often will not suggest their use and prefer to have you consume a well balanced diet of food instead.
Doctors will recommend certain supplements when they feel they may be beneficial such as Iron for women who are deficient. The reason many doctors do not really care what type of vitamin you take is because they do not want to be the one that gave you something that may later be found out to be harmful. As for the product you mentioned I have heard many things about it and could not recommend it.
As for stomach cleansing you need to be careful its more complicated then just using these products straight away. If your interested in doing this there is a correct way and most involve slowly adjusting your body into them. Alkaline diet may be beneficial and I can recommend them, there are plenty of good books you can pick up at Barnes and Nobles that can guide you through the process.
Thanks For writing if I forgot anything just write me back.
