Perfect breakfast?=)

Question
Hi!
I'm trying to create the perfect breakfast for me. I'm trying to be very healthy. My goal is to boost my metabolism, NOT bloat, and to get flat abs.
I think I have some kind of idea what to eat, but I'd like to get a specific answer about what to eat. I have fruit, non fat yogurt, whole wheat bread/English muffins, organic all natural peanut butter, almond butter, vegetables, cinnamon and a bunch of other seasonings, extra virgin olive oil, fiber one cereal, almonds, flaxseeds, skim milk, special K red berries cereal, and cream of wheat. Think you could help me with the perfect breakfast from that?

I'd also like to get your advice on my previous breakfasts. I've tried a whole wheat English muffin with cinnamon, extra virgin olive oil, almonds, flaxseeds, and blueberries. With a little yogurt on the side. Was this a good breakfast? Are there better choices you reccomend?

And one more thing..I've been dying to try my all natural organic peanut butter and/or my almond butter mixed in with fiber one cereal. Will this cause me to bloat like crazy? Or is it just an over all bad unhealthy idea?

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Eliza,

I wouldn't recommend any processed cereals that you mentioned - most of them are filled with white sugar, white flour and other bad ingredients that can spike your insulin and disrupt your hormones (regardless of how much fiber is in it). If you want a healthier cereal, I would go to the health food store and find an organic cereal with minimal ingredients, NO white flour, and at least half as much fiber as sugar. So for example, if it's 10g of sugar per serving, it should be at least 5g of Fiber.

Even so, if you like oatmeal, you might find that to be a healthier option as you can make it yourself and add your own ingredients. Cinnamon goes great with oatmeal and you can add in a small amount of natural sweetener (honey, agave, stevia) and fruit (apples, bananas, etc) and nuts (almonds, walnuts, etc) and seeds (flax seeds, chia seeds, etc.). I think that would be the best breakfast along the lines of what you've been eating.

As per your English Muffin breakfast, I would go for a sprouted whole wheat muffin if you can find them and make sure the yogurt is organic and has no added sugars (you can add your own honey/sweetener/fruit).

Really, you will know if you ate a good breakfast based on: how much energy you have, how quickly you get hungry again and how you feel overall 30 minutes, an hour and 3 hours after you ate. If you get very hungry rapidly, then it wasn't the right breakfast for you (either too much simple carbs (white sugar/white flour) or not enough bulk (fiber/protein/water) to keep you full.

I hope that helps!
