QuestionQUESTION: Hallo,
Because of my ALT levels being over limit (ALT 46) I would appreciate
advice how to naturally take care of my liver.
Could you appraise a possibilities ?
Could oestrogen pills and another anaphrodisiacs could influence a liver?
Could you give me also advices for my kidneys? (They should be all right but I want to prevent
any possible danger for kidneys)
Thank you.
ANSWER: Hey George,
The first goal is to figure out why the ALT is elevating. It can be caused by liver-toxic medications, viral infection, alcohol use, and toxin exposure.
Barring any of those things, the number one cause of elevated ALT is fatty liver, usually attributed to eating too much, specifically too many carbohydrates. If you cut the carbs back, then your liver will regress any fatty build up that can be resulting in liver damage.
In addition to the decrease in carb intake (i.e. bread, pasta, cake, candy, rice, cereals, etc) pick up two supplements that I have seen dramatically improve liver function:
1. Milk Thistle (standardized to 80% Silymarin) 175 mg three times daily
2. NAC (N-acetyl-cysteine) 500 mg twice daily.
Both of those supplements are available at health food stores, just get a good quality product. Make those changes and that should improve the health of your liver. As for your kidneys, if you take care of your liver, you will take stress off of your kidneys.
Let me know if you have other questions!

QUESTION: Thank you.
Are NAC and Milk Thistle available without prescription ?
I would like to know else this: Can estrogens or in general anaphrodisiacs
in any way influence liver?
Does liver or kidneys also clean oestrogens/anaphrodisiacs off male body if they work properly?
I just want to clean organism from anaphrodisiacs after discontinued consumption and want
to help my body to get them out as best as possible.
Thank you very much for your help, Sir.
AnswerHey George!
Yes, NAC and Milk Thistle are available at most health food stores. It's hard to say whether estrogenic compounds and aphrodisiacs are likely to cause liver dysfunction, but I would recommend avoiding such items until the liver enzymes normalize. Regardless, the milk thistle and NAC should help.
I hope this helps!
