QUESTION: Hi i am 16 and i weigh 200 pounds however most of it is muscle because i swim. i would like to lose at least 20 pounds in 6 weeks but the healthy way. i am in shape already i just need help as to what to do. i am going to campfor 6 weeks and im scared that being at camp i wont be able to fulfil my dream...do you have any suggestions?

ANSWER: Hey, Staci. Thanks for your question.  

You can do at least three very important things to dramatically increase your fat burning:

1. Interval training - run sprints with intervals of walking (1 min running / 2 minutes) walking in between to get your heart rate to its near maximum. Do it as early as possible in the day for about 10 - 15 minutes and that will increase your metabolism for the rest of the day.

2. Cut down on white sugar and white bread / rice as much as you can. These foods slow down your metabolism and prevent effective fat burning besides giving you empty calories. Replace sweets with fresh fruits as much as possible.

3. Make sure you have small meals throughout the day (5-6 meals per day) rather than fewer large meals per day. This really works to keep your metabolism going.

QUESTION: ok i do eat about 6 small meals aay and i go for jogs but i dont do prints so i guess i will start..but as for camp..i dont think i will be able to be doing sprints and wen i come back from camp i want to be transformed :)..any more suggestions?

Well, I guess you will have to start or continue the work after the camp. It's better to do it later than never, right? Remember, there are far more important reasons to lose weight than just that camp, so keep that in mind and it will be a great motivation.
