QuestionGood morning Mr/Ms Jansz,
I gain a lot of water weight every month during my period. I heard that the product (Aqua Ban maximum strength) is very good in relieving excess water from the body. I remember this product from years ago, but I can't seem to find it located in any local drug stores. I do see it listed in online drugstores, but I don't want to pay shipping and handling for a 3-5$ product. Can you tell me where I can find this item locally? Thank you for your time and expertise.
AnswerHi Paula,
I am based in London and it's hard to get hold of Aqua Ban here in the UK. Boldo is commonly used. It's all natural and sometimes you get it with a mixture of other herbs. Works just like Aqua Ban.
However, there are several things you can do and with the help of supplements you can say goodbye to water retention!
Eat a wide variety of legumes, including soya but take care not to rely on it too heavily. Chickpeas, lentils, mung beans, aduki beans etc all provide phyto-oestrogens which help to balance the hormones.
Diuretics
These help the loss of fluid from the body. Some foods are naturally diuretic. These include: prunes, figs, parsley, strawberries, water melon and aubergines.
Herbal teas
These can help water loss too. You make herbal tea like ordinary tea but using herbs. Try pennyroyal, rosemary or sage.
Dydrogesterone (Duphaston)
This is a new form of synthetic progesterone which can be taken by mouth. Women experience a dramatic improvement in fluid retention, and irritability. (It's prescription only!)
Hope this helps!
