QuestionI have been overweight since the age of 3 I am now 15 and have medical problems. I have tried everything I could think of to loose weight and I just can't. I've been on different diets my whole life. I've tried exercising it just doesn't thrill me. And I am even trying that byetta shot but feel I am not loosing weight. Any suggestions?
AnswerDear Bambi
Thanks for your question. Bambi, I'm assuming when you say that you have medical problems that you have had a medical examination to rule out any physical problem (like a problem with your thyroid gland)? If you haven't, then I'd suggest you do.
I certainly can relate to you being on different diets your whole life and the irony is that if they have been fad diets they have probably been a part of the problem - they're probably helped you diet yourself fatter. And even worse for our health than just being overweight is yo-yo dieting. If you want to know more about how this happens - you can go to http://www.ditch-diets-live-light.com/diet-myths.html
But I also wanted to chat to you about exercise because it's not only good for weight loss - it's just good for our health overall. Bambi, when you were a tiny child exercise wasn't something that you thought of as a bore or a chore - it was play it was fun. Running around felt natural, it was just a part of your day that you didn't even think about. If exercise doesn't thrill you it's because you've had your love for it eroded away. I've written loads about this at http://www.ditch-diets-live-light.com/exercise-information.html
Also there are many things that cause weight gain other than eating too much and exercising too little. How well do you sleep? Not getting enough sleep is hugely detrimental to our health overall.
How much water do you drink? Water flushes out toxins and really does wonders for our health whereas sodas (even those that are sugar-free are very toxic for our health).
And how stressed are you? Stress releases hormones into our system which increase upset our hormones that control our hunger and full signals.
Many things cause medical problems and being overweight is not the only one so you need to look at yourself as a whole person.
I hope this helps.
Warm regards
