QuestionI've picked up a lot of weight since my husband died - and most of my eating seems to happen at night. I'd really like to stop this habit - how do I go about changing this?
AnswerHi Larnie
I'm so sorry about the loss of your husband and as you say you eating has picked up since then, I'd guess that it's your way to trying to fill the hole that your husband has left. And as it happens at night I'm wondering whether food has become a type of 'companion' for you. if you want to read more about emotional eating you can go to http://www.ditch-diets-live-light.com/emotional-eaters.html
After we've lost someone it changes our world rather radically, partly because the routines we'd developed together have been shattered. It sounds to me like you need to start establishing some new routines that possibly get you out the house at night. What interests you? Is there a club you could join? And then watch what happens to your eating on the nights that you go out.
You may also find that as you start to fill your life with new things, that sense of loneliness or emptiness goes away too.
Kind regards
