Questionhi, I am 21 female.
in 2009 I have had horrible financial problems. I rarely had food in the house.
now that I finally found a job after a year of struggles, I tend to over eat when I have food.
could the reason I over eat now be caused by not having much food to eat before?
could stress cause over eating?
what about depression?

Hi Kayla
There is no doubt that we respond (both biologically and psychologically)to a sense of deprivation. Look at the participants of 'survivor'. When there is food offered as a reward for a challenge, they tend to over-eat. We're no different.
In addition both stress and depression are both known to be reasons we over-eat. You can read more about this at http://www.ditch-diets-live-light.com/emotional-eaters.html And you may even find that you're also eating as a subconscious way of 'rewarding' yourself for even having a job in these tough economic times. In my second book, The Joy-Filled Body (http://www.ditch-diets-live-light.com/joy-filled-body.html ) I talk about the many reasons for emotional eating and discuss practical ways to overcome them.
Kind regards
