QuestionI walk 4 miles a day. 2 miles to get to the bus stop in the morning, 2 miles to get home in the evening.
I have been doing this for 3 weeks.
But I still get out of breath when going up stairs, I am still fat. How long is it going to take for me to not get out of breath? I hate being out of breath. I hate that feeling more than anything.. unable to climb stairs.. unable to walk up hills... it is humiliating!!!!!!
AnswerHi Desirai
Congratualtions on walking this for 3 weeks. What you need to know is that it takes quite a while for fat to turn into muscle and sadly muscle turns back to fat way faster than it ever came off. I think these two articles would help you understand your metabolism and I think they will give you a lot of hope and inspire you to continue with what you're doing.

As for your breath, instead of noticing that you're still out of breath, rather start noticing how many steps you can walk up before our breath starts to get short. That way you'll notice that this week I was only able to walk up 3 before it started getting hard but next week it may be 4 steps. It takes time to build up fitness so focus on finding the small ways that you ARE improving rather than just noticing that you can't get up all the stairs withoug being out of breath.
Good luck and keep up the good work, you'll get there.
