Subcutaneous What Is
Subcutaneous (SQ) injections give medications under the skin. This type of injection works best for smaller amounts of medication and delivers it more slowly into the body vs medications that are given through an IV. Subcutaneous injections are often given in the belly, thigh, or upper arm.
