QuestionHello and thank you for volunteering.
I had RNY 4 yrs ago this May.
I never have had a complete list of bloodwork that 99 % other RNY patients claim their surgeons or PCPs have ordered for them.
Now I am finding out I am anemic and my liver enzymes have been elateved for almost 2 yrs without my knowledge and I am scheduled for a liver ultrasound this week.
Is htere a set of lab test guidelines I may look at and see if I need /feel like I need these tests?
I just do not feel right unless I have all the tests done, atleast once a year. I hear of patients who have awesome surgeons or PCPs that test every 6 months.
I am ready to look for another PCP if she will not test me for what I would like. It is my body, my defienceies possibly and my $$$. I asked her 1 time and she said some tests were a waste, but I honestly want a complete run of all tests associated with RNY but I do not know the list I should be questioning. I realize you can not give out medical advice but perhaps you are allowed to tell me what tests you think are a complete or lead me to a website?
Thank you so very much.

Hope it helps.
Anemia is very common with us long timers. I am dealing with that as well.
Liver enzymes are often elevated the first few years after surgery but
Usually settle down after our big losses are gone.
Due to our weight loss but I'd definitely get that checked out.
Good luck to you
