How will they do that / i didn't get a chance to see the doctor i won't see him until 08/2012 but i need to know now just to see if it's safe thank you althea
AnswerHi Althea
Usually, removing a Lap-Band is not a big deal unless it's for band errosion (when it goes into your stomach). Most surgeons do it at the time of the revision surgery. There might be some scarring, but your surgeon should be able to handle it. They will remove both your band and port prior to your RNY. If there is a significant errosion issue, the doctor may want to delay the revision to let the stomach heal, but this is rare. Lap Band revisions are pretty common...either to VSG, RNY, or DS. Still make sure your surgeon is experienced at revisions. A lot of times surgeons use some of the same trocar sites which reduces new scars as well.
Good luck!
