Questionia had a rny gastric bypass on 08/08 this year i need to know how soon can i have it reversed i have had a lot of problems
AnswerHi Nadia:
Most surgeons would want to work with you to see if they could resolve your problems before putting you under the knife again. A reversal has a lot more risk than the original gastric bypass. If for whatever reason your surgeon is not able to help you with your problems, you could see if a skilled revision surgeon could help you. That way, if a true reversal does become necessary, you will have a relationship with the surgeon--and s/he will be familiar with your issues.
If you follow up and give me some idea to the area of the country you are in, I'll try and give you a list of skilled revision surgeons in your area. It is worth traveling to a skilled revision surgeon. This is not something that you want to trust to a surgeon who has no experience doing revisions/reversals.
Hope this helps,
Karla
