QuestionI had a ru-n-y approximately 10 years ago at the bariatric center in Ypsilanti, Michigan. For the past couple of years when (and not every time) I either eat psatas or meat my stomach spasms painfully. It takes quite awhile for it to stop. I went to my GP and she doesn't know anything about bariatric surgery. I would like to know what is going on. Is something wrong?
AnswerKim,
The symptoms you describe are not expected after gastric bypass. There are a number of potential causes for this, and in my opinion it definitely is appropriate to pursue further evaluation. It's typically not practical for primary docs to handle this kind of problem, so I recommend you re-connect with your original surgeon to work on this with him/her. If it's not practical to re-connect with your original surgeon, then I suggest that you work with your primary doc to find a new bariatric surgeon who has the expertise to properly evaluate your symptoms and your gastric bypass.
