QuestionHello. I have read that calcium D-glucarate can help remove excess estrogen and can be helpful in estrogen caused cancers. Can you comment? Also, what brand would you recommend? Thanks!
AnswerHi Jan - I am personally a big fan of Calcium-D-Glucarate. It has good research and I think it probably does help reduce some cancer risk. There are really only a couple of suppliers in the world, so I would just choose a reputable, national brand. You want a dose of at least 400mg to be useful. As far as other supplements...dietary indoles (which come from cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, and cauliflower) are a good companion. You can take these in a supplement (as indole carbinol or DIM) but you can also just include them in your diet. Fiber is also important as it promotes estrogen clearance. Again, diet or supplements. Finally, nutrients that act as methy ldonors - these are mostly the B-vitamins B12 and folic acid - so a good multi or B-complex.
Please remember that the calcium content of calcium-D-glucarate is VERY small - you are taking it for the D-glucaric acid content. So if you need to be taking calcium for your bones, you still need to do that.
Hope this helps!
