Cardiovascular (cardio) exercises are the best exercises for weight loss.

Lets first look at cardio exercise and then strength/weight training.

CARDIO

Examples of cardio exercises are such things as, brisk walking (treadmill or outdoors), running (treadmill or outdoors), jogging (treadmill or outdoors), rowing, cross-country skiing, trampolining, Nordic walking, and aerobic dancing.

In fact, any exercise, activity, or sport that increases your heart and respiration rate for a specific period is cardio exercise. There are different degrees of cardio exercise from mild to intense. It is helpful to divide them into mild and intense.

There is an inverse proportion between intensity and duration. Intense exercise must be brief!

For example, you can sprint 100 meters, but you cannot sprint 5000 meters.

Intense cardio exercises include running, interval training, and graded exercise protocol.

It is important to do cardio exercise at the right intensity. This should be not too low and not too high.

Brisk walking is an example of mild cardio exercise.

If you are new to exercise, you may wish to begin with mild cardio and progress upwards. A good form of mild cardio is brisk walking (outdoors or treadmill). For someone new to exercise, walking is easier on your body and it is sustainable.

STRENGTH/WEIGHT TRAINING

If you add weight training to cardio exercise, you will have an excellent combination of the best exercises for health and weight loss. Proper strength/weight training will build muscle, which is your metabolic furnace that will burn additional calories 24 hours a day and not just when you are exercising.

As muscle burns more calories than fat, you will be burning calories even when you are relaxing. By that, more muscle will also enable you to eat more food (within reason) without gaining weight.

If you are unable to lift weights, for whatever reason, you can still obtain very good results through cardio exercise, and healthy eating of course.

Answer by Apm160 Confidence votes 548 Any for of cardio is a great exercise. This can range from jogging, walking or even mowing the lawn. Anything to get your heart rate to rise. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Park your car in the back of the parking lot. Everything helps.
