Joe’s Weight Loss Story!
When did you become unhappy with your weight?
Shortly before I turned 50, I had no energy and felt terrible (mentally & physically).
What made you decide to lose weight?
I started having lots of small medical issues and was concerned they could become much more serious.
What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
Started a combination of a good nutritional plan, cardio, and weight training.
What was most challenging about losing weight?
Patience! I wanted to do this for the long term. I was determined to do this right and not look for quick fixes. It took a little longer but became a lifetime change.
How long did it take you to start to see results?
It took about nine months to see noticeable differences in my appearance.
How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
It took me about 18 months to get to my current weight of 170 pounds.
How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
I haven’t gained any weight back over the last 2 1/2 years. I stick with my cardio & weight training routine and maintain a very healthy diet. It’s been a true lifestyle change!
How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I have recently got my personal training certification and my wife & I open our own training center for kids & adults in Broomfield, Colorado.
How did ShapeFit help you reach your weight loss goals?
I did a lot of research when I went through my initial phases of learning to get in shape the safe way. ShapeFit was one of the sources I used to learn more about fitness. Weight loss tip #1:
Be patient, it takes time to do it right.
Weight loss tip #2:
Eat at least 6 times per day (smaller portions).
Weight loss tip #3:
Eat healthy (natural) foods.
Weight loss tip #4:
Start a good cardio program for burning calories.
Weight loss tip #5:
Start weight training to put on lean muscle.
Joe’s Weight Loss Eating Plan!
Breakfast:
Protein shake and healthy low-fat cereal or oatmeal.
Lunch:
Chicken or turkey in a sandwich or on a salad.
Dinner:
Chicken, turkey, or lean steak on a salad or by itself with some vegetables.
Snacks or Mini Meals:
Protein shake and/or a healthy granola bar or fruit. Or, a protein shake with fresh fruit and non-fat yogurt.
Joe’s Weight Loss Workouts!
Weight Training:
30-45 minutes almost every day, split by paired body parts (Chest/Shoulders, Biceps/Triceps, Back/Lats, & Legs).
Cardiovascular:
Minimum of 30 minutes on treadmill or elliptical, followed by some abs work.
