Shana’s Weight Loss Story!
When did you become unhappy with your weight?
When I couldn’t get up the stairs without feeling like I was going to pass out. I was 25 and way to young to be in such poor shape.
What made you decide to lose weight?
Health reasons.
What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
My diet has changed drastically. I eat all foods but in moderation. I exercise daily and have recently become a fitness trainer which keeps me motivated and disciplined as I continue to work towards my goal.
What was most challenging about losing weight?
My mind state. The will power necessary to go forth with a goal such as mine is extremely difficult to attain. Staying positive and focused were the only challenges then and now. Food is not the enemy, your mind is.
How long did it take you to start to see results?
Being as large as I was the results were obvious from the start. However now that I exercise a great deal more everyday I see changes.
How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
Its taken me about a year and a half.
How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
I am still losing about a 1.5 lb a week.
How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
Yes! Not only am I healthier and happier but I have decided to change my career and focus on nutrition and wellness. Going from a glorified secretary to a Certified Personal Trainer is a huge accomplishment in itself. I am working at a gym and helping people everyday. I love giving advice and know that I am an inspiration to others. That alone keeps me going.

Weight loss tip #1:
Eat right, count calories, count fat and watch your portions.
Weight loss tip #2:
ASK FOR HELP if you need it.
Weight loss tip #3:
Exercise at least 3-4 times a week.
Weight loss tip #4:
Give yourself a cheat day.
Weight loss tip #5:
Set small goals working toward the BIG GOAL and reward yourself when you reach each goal you set for yourself.

Breakfast:
2 egg whites, 2 slice turkey bacon, whole wheat toast or whole grain waffles w/ lite syrup or 1/2 cup of whole grain cereal with soy milk.
Lunch:
Grilled chicken salad or other types of salads or fruit salad with cottage cheese.
Dinner:
Grilled chicken and vegetables, soups or salads.
Snacks or Mini Meals:
Cheese slices, fruit, whole grain crackers.

Weight Training:
3-4 times a week circuit training or free weight exercises.
Cardiovascular:
5 times a week jogging for 45 minutes or group aerobics.
