Jacqueline’s Weight Loss Story!
When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I was an overweight child that turned into an overweight adult and I was unhappy the whole time. I was teased from about 3rd grade on for being “fat”.
What made you decide to lose weight?
I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, like my mother. This was my “A-Ha” Moment! Around the same time I developed the pictures of my son’s 1st birthday party. If he was a year old, now what was my excuse?
What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
I started spinning 5 1/2 miles every morning and following an eating plan that was the appropriate amount of calories for my body. I also started doing pilates for my core 3-4 times a week and strength training to keep all the muscle I had built up carrying so much extra weight.
What was most challenging about losing weight?
Sticking with it! I had to get up at 5:30 am to get my hour of cardio in before my two little boys woke up. It was the only time I could carve out for myself to do my exercise. There were many mornings when sleep looked much better than spinning, but I would put on my workout clothes and then I would feel silly just sitting there.
How long did it take you to start to see results?
I saw results almost immediately. I was losing inches and starting to enjoy the exercise.
How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
9 months.
How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
I have held steady between 145-150 pounds now since December, 2009. I have that 5 pound window, so it’s easier to judge where I am no matter the time of day or month.
How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I am a much happier and more fulfilled person now! I can run around with my two boys. I have so much energy! My MS symptoms are in remission, and I am finally not ashamed of my body.
How did ShapeFit help you reach your weight loss goals?
When I had no motivation in the mornings to do my cardio, I would read ShapeFit’s weight loss success stories. It helped me to see that someday I WOULD be done!
