Torrie’s Weight Loss Story!
When did you become unhappy with your weight?
When I no longer looked like the girl I use to know. It was after marriage and having kids.
What made you decide to lose weight?
After a dear friend of mind in a nice way told me how everyone actually saw me. And my son asking me, “Mommy why are you fat?”
What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
I have learned that not only is exercise very important but it’s also what goes in my body (food) that has so much importance on my health. What might taste so good for a moment might actually shorten my life.
What was most challenging about losing weight?
Exercise! I have never been one that likes to sweat. Funny thing is now I wake up and exercise is the first thing on my mind. I love it!
How long did it take you to start to see results?
I saw results immediately. I was losing 3-5 pounds a week. However, I have hit many plateaus even to the point I wanted to quit. With great help from trainers, friends and family, I knocked that thought right out of my head and changed up my workouts so my body was not complacent.
How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
I started in May of 2011. So its been over a 1.5 years!
How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
It has been an everyday process for almost 2 years. I’m still focused and have promised myself to not stop.
What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
Myself! I know that sounds crazy but I have never seen or witnessed how hard work does pay off. And if I let myself down I will then let those around me that love me down as well. I don’t want that to happen and I will not fail!
How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I never realized how losing weight and becoming healthier has such an important role in my life. I am healthier, happier, more successful, and I will live longer in this one life we are given. Make the best of it!
Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
People always ask me “How do you do it all Torrie while being a mom, wife, full-time employee and volunteer?” I tell them that so many doors will open if you just focus a few hours a week on yourself. I do all of that and more. I like to call myself Superwoman! Remember that positive will outweigh the negative every time.
How did ShapeFit help you reach your weight loss goals?
By seeing other people in the same boat as myself. The more people tell their weight loss success stories the more others will learn from their journeys and there will be longer, happier people in this world. I want to thank ShapeFit.com for sharing the positive words of weight loss and healthier living.
