Stacie’s Weight Loss Interview!
How much did you lose?
I lost a total of 70 pounds and went from a size 22 to a size 10!
When did you become unhappy with your weight?
I have been heavy since I was 6 years old. I was heavy all throughout high school.
What made you decide to lose weight?
In 2002, I had gastric bypass surgery and lost 110 pounds. I kept it off for 8 years, then regained 50 pounds! I was miserable. I thought I had run out of options to have a healthy future. I then discovered a physician created program that helped me get back to my post-surgical weight and an additional 20 pounds. It taught me healthy habits for long-term success.
What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
I joined a weight loss program to change my focus. Using meal replacements and preparing my own lean and green meals helped me learn to cook with healthy ingredients. I have always loved to cook and now I can enjoy what I make and not gain weight! Plus, my husband joined me on this journey and he lost 70 pounds!
What was the most challenging thing you had to deal with during your weight loss journey?
Dealing with the emotional challenge that this will always be a struggle. As a “foodie”, I have to maintain a focus on healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. Becoming a health coach allows me to continue my passion as well as helping others is key to my success.
How long did it take you to start to see results?
I lost 20 pounds the first 8 weeks. That was proof enough that the program I chose would work for me.
How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
It took 6 months.
How long have you maintained your weight loss and what are the most important factors for keeping it off?
I have maintained my weight for almost 2 years and now I’m a health coach helping others do the same!
What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
I have young grandchildren and when I was heavy, I was always tired and my knees hurt. I want to be able to enjoy them for as long as possible and maintaining a healthy weight allows me to run after a 3 and 5-year-old.
How has your life changed now that you have lost weight?
My life is so much fuller. Both my husband and I lost 70 pounds each. We are so much more active now. We love hiking, biking, boogie boarding and chasing our grandchildren around. Plus, sharing my passion with others has enriched my life greatly.
Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
Never give up! The power to change is in you. I do not regret my gastric bypass, but I wish I knew then what I know now! Try your best to reach out and use a support system.
