BMI is a measure of body fat based on height and weight. It is calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms by the square of your height in meters. A healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9.
2. Waist circumference
Waist circumference is a measure of abdominal fat. It is measured at the narrowest point between your rib cage and hip bones. A healthy waist circumference is less than 35 inches (88 cm) for women and 40 inches (102 cm) for men.
3. Body fat percentage
Body fat percentage is the amount of fat in your body compared to other tissues. It can be measured using a variety of methods, including skinfold calipers, bioelectrical impedance, and underwater weighing. A healthy body fat percentage is between 10% and 20% for women and 5% and 15% for men.
4. Muscle mass
Muscle mass is the amount of muscle in your body compared to other tissues. It can be measured using a variety of methods, including skinfold calipers, bioelectrical impedance, and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). A healthy muscle mass is between 30% and 40% of total body weight for women and 40% and 50% of total body weight for men.
5. Overall health
In addition to the above measures, your overall health can also be a good indicator of whether you are at a healthy weight. Some factors to consider include your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, blood sugar levels, and physical activity level.
