In the past, diet plans have received a lot of flak because of a few bad apples that didn’t deliver their promised results. BistroMD wants to change your perceptions of weight-loss and move beyond the grueling ritual of restrictive portions, calorie counting and bizarre diets that don’t really work. BistroMD was built on the strong foundation of healthy weight-loss based on real science and the unique knowledge that food is medicine. We do not believe in dieting. We believe in health.
Our founders: the Foodie and the MD. What is their philosophy?
Caroline J. Cederquist, M.D., one of the founders of bistroMD, has over 20 years of medical expertise in her field. Caroline works with bistroMD’s team of Registered Dietitians to ensure the nutritional requirements for healthy and long-term weight loss are being met in every weekly menu and in each and every entrée that is delivered to program members. BistroMD’s diet plans all follow a standard of 1,100-1,400 daily calories with 40-50% total caloric intake from lean, adequate protein, 20-25% of calories from healthy fats, and 30-35% from complex carbohydrates. And every menu and every recipe is created so our program members receive proper macronutrients. Our entrees contain a scientific balance of complex carbohydrates, like vegetables, whole grains and fiber along with lean protein and healthy fat ratios.
Ed Cederquist, the foodie and CEO of bistroMD, directly works with our chefs. He travels the globe in search of inspiration and returns with recipes that he and our chefs transform into heavenly and healthy works of art. Ed also works with our dietitians to ensure that each delicious entree upholds the nutritional foundation, developed by his wife, The M.D.
