Obesity is such a disease which can be found not only in adults but in children too. However in recent surveys it has been found that the number of child obesity is increasing crossing the rate of obese adults. The child obesity which can also be termed as overweighting not only increases the weight of a child but also invites many dreadful diseases at early ages like asthma, diabetes or cardio vascular disease. The result of child obesity is very awful since it is prone to develop stress, sadness and low self esteem.

Causes of childhood obesity:

There could be many reasons of childhood obesity. The most common causes of childhood obesity are genetic factors, lack of physical activities, unhealthy eating habits and sometimes the combinations of all. The rarest among all the causes of childhood obesity is the hormonal problem which can be termed as the medical condition.

Although weight problems have been traced hereditary but since it is not necessary that all the kids with a family history of obesity will be overweight. Children whose parents or siblings have overweight problems have an increased risk of gaining weight but this has also relation with eating behaviour and life styles.

The recent work and living habits have also affected the physical abilities of children where lack of physical efforts and prolonged sitting works are inducing overweight problems.

Although obesity has always being associated with adults but nowadays child obesity is the most delicate issue the parents need to know. Since child obesity facts have encountered a lot of chronic diseases that includes:

  • High blood pressure
  • Early heart disease
  • Diabetes
  • Bone problems
  • Skin conditions such as heat rash, fungal infections, and acne

    Child obesity is one of the serious matters in recent times and it is the sole responsibility of their parents to take care of it and find suitable measures against it. For this, they need to provide certain healthy tips to their kids so that they can live a healthy and disease free life.

    Here are some:

  • Support your kids emotionally and mentally and never remind them continuously about their physical condition. Since stress can also be the cause of overweight. Your child needs encouragement, love and acceptance.
  • Prepare a schedule for your kids that can encourage them for more physical activities to avoid prolonged sitting activities.
  • Encourage your child for jogging, running, hiking, washing car, gardening etc instead of continuous sitting in front of TV or computers.
  • Give proper attention to their meals and plan a healthy and balanced diet for them. Additionally encourage them to enjoy their meals by giving adequate time.
  • Never restrict your child's diet until and unless being advised by the doctor.
  • Encourage them for healthy food items like fruits, vegetables, juices etc instead of junk foods.
