Should one's body mass index reaches 30.0 to 34.9, the person is under Class I Obesity, for 35.0-39.9 one is categorized as Class II Obese, and anyone who has equal to or more than 40 the person is suffering from Class III Obesity.

Excessive intake of dietary calories makes a person suffer from obesity. This health condition does not only cause medical problems but also social issues. One who is an obese certainly is under threat of having heart problems, difficulty in breathing, hypertension, certain types of cancer, and other diseases brought by too much fat in the body. These illnesses are very serious that it calls for immediate attention from the person and family of one who is under any type of obesity. Moreover, anyone who is suffering from obesity would certainly desire to get himself or herself from this situation due to the fact that society has different perception and idea on someone who is obese or otherwise commonly known as fat. A fat or obese person in the eyes of society often suffers from downgraded or ridiculed treatment. This discriminating conception of obesity is based from the idea that a fat person is someone who lazily and idly lives his or her life and devours every food available. In a highly productive and urbanized environment we have today, indeed, the productivity of an obese person is not the only one adversely affected in terms of social matters but his or her self-confidence and esteem are also being under attack. Due to this situation, an obese person, especially those under class III obesity, would certainly have lower to almost no chance of socially making oneself productive and useful. This deprivation is psychologically debilitating not to mention the possible serious diseases that accompany the medical condition of obesity.

Hence, obesity is by itself already a serious health concern that does not only directly involve medical attention, but it certainly calls for social awareness about this problem. Self-imposed diet and exercise is a must to avoid or lessen the chances of getting obese. It must be remembered that obesity is not a natural or an inevitable condition. In fact, it is a preventable disease caused by one's own personal acts of irresponsible dieting and idle living. Awareness and proper personal actions is key to prevent obesity or restore one's health condition to normal.
