Since the 1990's the statistics of obesity and overweight people has dramatically increased as a result of the our eating habits and especially eating at the fast food restaurants. Obesity in kids has been rapidly increasing since the 1980's. Much of this has to do with fast food and non outdoor exercise. The biggest issue being video games and computers. Honestly when is that the last time you seen a child outside playing. Its very hard to find now days.

Only 4% of youngsters in 1982 were thought to be obese. Currently more than 30% are obese. Out of about 25% of all obese children are now starting to show symptoms of the development of Type II diabetes. Of those children developing Type II diabetes, more than sixty percent of obese children are showing one or more signs of cardiovascular disease.

With obesity there is a very high risk for diseases like diabetes type II, high blood pressure,heart disease, prostate cancer, colon cancer and breast cancer. Obesity has also been linked to many mental health conditions such as depression or feeling shameful or having a low self esteem. Health professionals say that if people would lose 10 to 15% of their weight this would dramatically decrease the chance of developing these conditions. Many obese individuals are targets of insults and even discriminated against and also verbally abused.

In the US we are seeing to many individuals dying each year as a result of obesity and many people that are obese are turning into diabetics. Who do we have a tendency to hold accountable? The people that distribute the foods that are bad for us? Well that would be one route to go but we are not forced to eat the food, we have a choice. There are many things you could do to save money and not eat at fast food restaurants. Exercise for a minimum of 1 hour a day. Make your kids play outside.
