Obesity epidemic is a term which describes the timely and accurate health condition caused by overweight populations around the world. It is indeed a shocking fact that obesity epidemic as the name suggests has become an epidemic in literal sense. The obesity epidemic condition in America outweighs the gravity of the problem in every country in the world bringing forth health hazards which proclaim National emergency in the frontline.
While obesity epidemic is common to both children and adults, the downside of the condition is obese children who turn adults deriving heart diseases, diabetes, arthritis and even cancer, at an earlier age than previous generations.
Studies show that in America, the sole cause behind obesity epidemic is bad eating habits. The all in one food packs and easy to use canned food as well as take away outlets that are the homeland for food junkies can be pin pointed as the main culprits of obesity epidemic. Bad eating habits, excessive time spent watching television and lack of physical exercise all contribute to get obesity epidemic spread steadily across generations.
From recently many obese people have gathered around the idea of obesity epidemic as being a genetic condition. While obesity can be determined through a genetic predisposition to acquire a certain body type, we cannot point the finger at genetics to make us over-weight because quite naturally, we were not born with the obesity epidemic.
However, it cannot be denied that environment plays a part in obesity which may make children of one generation heavier than the previous. When we talk about the environment, it is crucial to look at the lifestyles we have acquired and the amount of exercise we get on a daily basis. These habits too can quite naturally be passed down to generations without our conscious notice or effort.
The sad part however is that statistically speaking, there is almost that the world has done about obesity epidemic. The numbers have not decreased over the years and the number of illnesses due to obesity epidemic is on the rise, each passing day.
Is it not ironic and absurd that a part of human population suffers from obesity epidemic when nearly half of the population on earth is dying out of hunger and poverty? So where should we draw the line between food and well being? And how often should we giving to temptations? Whatever said and done, at the end of the day, they are all individual choices!
