The most dangerous habit the vast majority of American people have in regards to their morbidly overweight selves is that their typical way of eating revolves around starving themselves or relying solely on some form of supplemental bar or protein powder or magical diet pill. Almost no one thinks about actually preparing and eating natural, whole foods.
The United States is a world leader in one thing: obesity. The CDC states that 72% of the population is overweight, with 34% of those numbers being termed "morbidly obese". And out of those who are considered obese (dangerously overweight), only about 6% have a genetic excuse. The rest are simply overweight and fat because they don't care about their diet or have zero clue how to care for themselves.
If you look at the latest research from The Medical Research Council's Epidemiology Unit in Cambridge, England, they state that if you look at the 6% of obese people in the United States, roughly 40% of them could actually stop being obese if they would merely start doing some exercise in combination with a whole food diet plan such as The Mediterranean Diet. That's roughly half of all people who claim to have an obesity issue as a result of their genes.
That's powerful information. It means that out of the six percent of people who claim they have no choice but to be fat, that their weight is completely out of their control, only half of them are actually, truly fat because they have no choice. The other half can eliminate obesity from their lives altogether through a simple combination of a whole food eating plan such as The Mediterranean Diet while also doing some regular fitness.
And it isn't that difficult to start working out. All doctors agree that the hardest part about being in shape isn't the workouts; it's the diet. It comes back to the 70/30 rule, where 70% of the factors rely on the diet plan of the individual, and only 30% relate to the actual workout routines. It's all about the quality of the food you put into your body and the results you achieve as a result of those elements.
While it's important to exercise, it's also important to have good nutrition. This is where The Mediterranean Diet's whole food nutrition comes into play, because there isn't a diet plan on the face of the planet which has as much of an emphasis on raw foods and fruits and vegetables as this one. Fruits and vegetables make up over 80% of the overall recipes, which means you are mainlining the most nutritious substances on the planet straight into your bloodstream. The end result is weight loss and healthy living through whole, unprocessed foods.
