Obesity in the US is now said to be 'out of control' - and unfortunately, not just among adults but also among children and teens too. The main contributing factor, according to dieticians and researches, is not enough exercise. Other reasons are too much sugar and fat in foods they eat, genetic inheritance and overeating. But the major factor is said to be inactivity. Extensive studies have shown that, in a typical day, nearly all teens only get around 30 minutes of exercise. Sadly, this is just not enough to stay fit and healthy.
Physical activities of any kind are very important for a young growing body, because exercise is not just about losing weight but it is also about developing young muscles and a healthy cardio vascular system.
But as a parent you probably have already found out, that trying to encourage better habits can have its limitations, particularly if you don't "practice what you preach". A great method to help your young adult shed some pounds is to start some exercise routines together. It can be very enjoyable and you may even learn some new sports or skills.
Irrespective of age or gender before stating any kind of diet or exercise routines, you should both check with your family doctor first to just make sure that there are no underlying health issues that could be the root cause of the overweight, and a medical check will also give both of you peace of mind that you are good shape.
Walking, jogging and cycling can be excellent activities for general fitness and weight loss.
Swimming is an almost perfect way to get toned up and you could always check out family discounts at the local pool, health club, gym or spa. If individual sports is not you thing, there are no limitations to team activities you could do together like , ice-hockey, football or soccer, baseball, basketball, the list is endless .
One upside of all this is that it's a little easier for a teen to lose weight than it is for their parents, once the exercise begins to 'bite'. A teen's metabolism is faster and their body is still prepared for change, so for a teen to lose weight it is not necessary to go on a harsh diet such as the 500 calorie diet or cabbage soup diet.
As with adults a teen will always lose those excesses pounds faster if a dietary supplement like acai berry ,maqui berry , hoodina or Wu-Yi tea was incorporated in to their diet to help speed up metabolism and just to ensure that you and your off spring are getting adequate essential vitamins and minerals while you are dieting and exercising
So get them into good habits now and they'll be set up for life.
