If you want to lose weight you are going to have to change some things. One of the things you might need to change is your attitude about eating between meals.
Were you told snacking is bad? We’ve all heard, “Don’t eat before dinner. It will ruin your appetite.” And it is true—it will ruin your appetite. Or at least diminish it a little.
If you need to take off a few pounds, isn’t that what you would like? Wouldn’t you like something to ruin your appetite?
It’s true. Snacking does “ruin your appetite.” It keeps you from feeling starved between meals. And it helps you from being so hungry that you gorge yourself at dinner and overeat.
Whenever you overeat, all those extra calories store as fat, so you have to do whatever you can to keep the size of your meals smaller. Snacking can help you with that.
Those extra little meals between your bigger meals can be good for you, or bad. Now, if you are eating candy and cookies and drinking soda between meals, that will just give you an artificial high that ultimately leaves you weak and run-down.
But if you get something nutritious to eat, whether it is a few ounces of chicken you packed away, or half a turkey sandwich, or something with some good protein in it, then you are going to be stronger, you will have more energy, and you will feel better. But it has to have some protein.
Each time you eat some protein your metabolism revs up. It speeds up. Your body runs faster for a while. And this means that you are burning up more calories.
So if you eat one extra snack each day, your body speeds up one more time. If you eat two snacks, it speeds up two more times. Keep it up and you will see. Add some healthy snacks to your diet. And you will take off those extra pounds and get the body you want.
