How to Do the Dumbbell Military

The overhead dumbbell military press is an effective way to work your shoulders and triceps. Dumbbells help you work each side independently and provide a deeper range of motion than the barbell version.

To perform the overhead dumbbell military press, follow these steps:

Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, and hold a pair of dumbbells in front of your thighs.

Engage your core, squeeze your glutes, and arch your lower back to lock your body into a tight position.

Clean the dumbbells up to your shoulders, with your elbows bent and close to your body. This is your starting position.

Exhale and press the dumbbells overhead until your arms are fully extended. Keep your elbows slightly tucked in throughout the movement.

Pause at the top of the movement, and then inhale and slowly lower the dumbbells back to the starting position.

Repeat the movement for the desired number of repetitions.

Here are a few tips for performing the overhead dumbbell military press:

Start with a light weight and focus on proper form before increasing the weight.

Keep your core engaged and your lower back arched throughout the movement.

Don't lock out your elbows at the top of the movement.

Move slowly and deliberately to get the most benefit from the exercise.

The overhead dumbbell military press is a great way to build strong shoulders and triceps. By following these tips, you can perform this exercise safely and effectively.
